STAY AMIDST GREENERY

Alpinia is not a resort. It is an estate stay amidst greenery. A hideout, totally away from the restless city life. It is not designed to provide a luxury dwelling. But you have all the comforts of a clean room with attached bath and kitchen with round the clock hot water. You shall also experience bathing from firewood heated, concealed water vessel. It is traditionally addressed in kannada language as ‘Hande’.

 We want visitors to taste the vibrant beauty of staying together with the nature and experience the rural life. And this made us keep Televisions away. We wish our guests walk up to the humble rural family, living next to the fence for breakfast and dinner.

In order to save visitors from depending upon’ help’ for coffee or tea, cooking facility is also provided. Guests can make use of the kitchen.
 

BUIRMA BRIDGE: Please experience the thrill of walking across in the Burma bridge. Please note that it cannot hold more weight and ONLY ONE PERSON can walk on it at a time.

TREE TOP NET: You have two ladders erected to climb on to the tree top net. It can hold the weight of MAXIMUM OF THREE PERSONS only. You can relax over it.

STREAM N THE POND: A pond is created by halting the stream flowing down from the valley. It is not meant for swimming as mud gets stored at the bottom.The SWING above it can hold only ONE PERSON OR TWO CHILDREN at a time.

TREE HOUSE: Tree house can hold only up to four people

CYCLING: Visitors can go for cycle ride in the single road across the hillocks. You should look for the rare traffic which may take you by surprise. About five kilometers picturesque rural road can be covered either by walk or cycling.

ESTATE WALK: Visitors can walk inside the Main estate located about a furlong away from the cottage. You shall enjoy the humming of birds, watching trees, studying coffee, pepper and orange plants. Those who visit between March and first week of April shall enjoy the mind boggling beauty and fragrance of Coffee Blossom. The whole estate will depict the picture of a flower bed!

RAIN DANCE: An open shower in the yard can cool you down after cycling or trekking. Can be turned on for a rain dance too !
 

APPROACH;
You have to drive Thirteen kilometers from Madikeri to reach ALPINIA. (Transportation will be organized to those who travel by bus. The first 8 kilometers is a state highway towards Siddapur.

After the 9th kilometer turn to right towards KATLEKAD (Paisary) The sign board on the road side says ‘Maragodu, 9 KMs). (For easy location, enquire for the estate of ‘SHAKTHI’ newspaper owners as people are not familiar with the name ALPINIA.)

Splendid scenic beauty will enthrall your short drive here. You will meet a ‘Y’ junction after 2 kilometers. Take the left road. If you have not experienced driving inside a valley, this road awaits your arrival. The last 2.5 kilometers is steep, curvy and rugged.

If you wish to avoid this stretch, another 24 kilometer stretch could be opted. That road comes from Maragodu. It is again an experience to drive the last eight kilometers inside forests and estates. The route is Madikeri, Hakathur, Maragod, Hoskeri, Kathlekad.
 

MODE OF PAYMENT;
You have to transfer fifty percent advance online via ICICI or SBI bank for confirmation. Remaining amount shall be paid at the time of checking in.

BE POLITE; Please be polite with the villagers who are generally humble and sincere.

TAKE PRECAUTION; Slushy and wet areas inside and outside the estate will have leaches. Snakes and crabs will also be noticed at times. Advice the children not to venture out all alone. Playing around the pond is safe.

Please do not disturb plants or pluck flowers n fruits.

Maintain silence after 9.30 pm.

DRIVERS STAY: Drivers can sleep in the rest room with a nominal pay of rupees 200 including breakfast and one meal.
